Sports & exercise physiotherapy is a specific, expert discipline of physiotherapy that provides for optimal sporting performance at all levels of sport.
Regardless of whether it is injury prevention, diagnosis and treatment of an injury or issue, or maintaining high performance. A sports & exercise physiotherapist has specific knowledge and skills to help you. You don't need to be an elite athlete to see a sports & exercise physiotherapist. It doesn’t matter what your level of sport or activity is, our services are open to everyone across all ages and levels of ability. Scott has elite sports experience across a range of sports, including AFL, Soccer, Gymnastics, Rugby League and Rugby Union, Golf, Ice Hockey and Mixed Martial Arts to name a few! Based in Orange, in the Central West of NSW, Scott is available for face to face consults, or worldwide via telehealth or "sports physio by video"! |
What’s different about Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy compared to physiotherapy?
Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy involves a more detailed and specific understanding of you, your issues, injuries and challenges AND your specific goals of treatment.
Along with this, each person has their own specific requirements depending on the sport or sports they play. You need more than 30 minutes to get a good history of what has happened, assess you and then commence treatment. That set of knee exercises your friend got from their physio probably won't work for you - you need treatment and a program tailored for you.
A treatment plan that outlines what your injury is, and how we are going to work together needs to happen as well.
Sports & exercise physiotherapists have many years of experience across a range of sports - different sports can have different injury profiles. Add to that a young athlete who has a growing, changing body and things can get interesting very quickly. Sport and physical activity places increased loads on the body - which is great and an important part of being active and healthy. When load and physical capacity are out of sync, a sports & exercise physiotherapist is a great person to have in your corner.
Your initial appointment will run for 1 hour and will include history, assessment and treatment of the cause of your injury allowing you to build the strength, mobility, balance and co-ordination required to return to your sport pain free and to help prevent further injury. A clear treatment plan and direction for your recovery will also be covered.
